So, one of my favorite lines of companion dialog is Isabela gushing about that amazing hat shop in Lowtown. I figure hell, there’s bound to be days when they’ve all got free time (that is, when Aveline isn’t guarding), and sometimes the girls just need a break from hanging out with the guys. They probably grab some breakfast, kill some bandits on the Wounded Coast, then come back to town to pawn the stuff.
And then they head over to the hat shop. Isabela can’t resist the stereotypical pirate hat; after all, she’ll need one when she has a ship again. Aveline doesn’t care for most of the higher end merchandise, too Orlesian for her taste. But then Hawke finds this nice straw hat, that smells of a sea grass that grows in Highever, and remarks that it’ll help keep Aveline’s face from getting too burnt in the summer.
It’s practical but well-made. Merrill is of course, delighted with the more theatrical hats because the silk flowers look almost real. She wilts at little at the price, but little does she know the other three are going to pitch in and buy it behind her back. As for Hawke, she waffles a bit but settles on the little bonnet.
